TFT-Recipes

TFT- Recipes

Every day I sit at work and think about that I want to make for dinner. I love to cook but I get sick of making the same thing over and over. Sometimes I just end up making a sandwich and just say forget it. So today on TFT I thought that I would share one of my favorite recipes and encourage everyone to share theirs with me. It’s not really a TFT but I do want to hear from you all so please share.

Mashed Potato Pizza

Ingredients
Pizza crust-You can use one of those pre-made crusts from the grocery store
Mashed Red potatoes- You can use regular too (Simply Potatoes has premade ones in the refrigerator section garlic mashed are the best or a buttery kind)
1-2 cups Shredded cheddar Cheese
½ cup Mozzarella cheese
Sour Cream
Broccoli
Cut up bacon or turkey bacon

Directions

I just throw this together and you can too. It’s very simple.
Instead of pizza sauce you are going to use the mashed potatoes so spread them evenly on the pizza crust. Top with the cheese, broccoli and bacon and bake it according to the premade pizza crust directions.
Dip in the sour cream

TAAADAAAA!!

Tip Day

I came across this blog today http://www.happiness-project.com/happiness_project/ this woman makes every Wednesday tip day. I thought I would share one of her Wednesday tip day topics on how to act like a true friend. I Shortened it to 10 tips

Here twelve tips for how to act like a true friend:

1. Be supportive when your friend has bad news. This is perhaps the most critical duty of a friend.

2. Be supportive when your friend has good news. This is trickier; surprisingly, it’s sometimes harder to be supportive when someone gets a promotion, gets engaged, or enjoys other good fortune, than it is to be supportive when someone is going through a hard time.

3. Don’t gossip. It’s not nice. Also, although it may be fun to gossip about Pat with Jean, Jean is probably going to feel wary of being your friend—you’re not trustworthy. Along the same lines…

4. Keep a secret. One of the most satisfying aspects of friendship is that it allows two people to confide in each other. Spilling secrets will destroy that. Ah, it’s so delicious to disclose a secret—but you have to resist.

5. Exchange favors. Along with the feeling of intimacy, one of the best parts of friendship is the feeling of support it provides. And while getting support is important, giving support may be even more important for boosting happiness.

6. Don’t criticize a friend’s sweetheart or spouse—and, at the other extreme, don’t flirt with a friend’s sweetheart or spouse.

7. Be kind to a friend’s children.

8. Be friendly to a friend’s friends. In fact, in a phenomenon called “triadic closure,” people tend to befriend the friends of their friends – and this is very satisfying. Friendships thrive on inter-connection, and it’s both energizing and comforting to feel that you’re building not just friendships, but a social network.

9. Show up. Sometimes a friend wants you to show up someplace when you’d really rather not: a wedding in Topeka; a surprise party that falls on New Year’s Eve, when you’d rather be doing something else. Recognize a command performance, and don’t miss it.

10. Remember birthdays.

My weekend

Happy Monday to everyone! Do you ever feel like you leave work on Friday and blink and your back at work Monday? That is how I feel most days. How was every ones weekend? Mine was ok. Friday I spent the evening with my old friend Tam and her daughter Zoe. We ordered pizza and watched movies. You know how I love pizza. YUMMY!!
Saturday I woke up feeling very sick and it lasted into the evening. I eventually made myself go back over to Tam’s because I knew I needed to get out but needed something low key. She lured me over with tacos. She said that I had to come and try her famous tacos. Boy am I glad that I did. They were AMAZING! It was shredded chicken topped with fresh cilantro, fresh onions and fresh lime juice on soft tortillas. That was all that they had on them and they were so full of flavor. Oh course I am a HUGE cheese and sour cream fan so I had to put a little bit on mine but they really didn’t need it. I ate a lot and I am glad that I did because my nausea started to subside after I had a full belly. After dinner we went outside to play dominos on the deck. Tam taught me this game about a year ago and I am HOOKED. We played until midnight. It was such a nice cool night to be outside. (oh here is a tip-instead of bug spray use dryer sheets trust me they work)
Sunday I was sick all day. I tried to eat but could only get mac and cheese down for dinner. It was not fun. I will be glad when this morning sickness is over.
This was a long post WOAH!!

TFT-What would you do???

TFT- What would you do??
Did anyone catch Primetime Crime on ABC last night? This story brought tears to my eyes. I’ve inserted the link to the story for you all to read it. Please read the whole story when you have time and leave me a comment. I would like to hear all of your thoughts on this.
http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/story?id=5427068&page=1
My thoughts for Thursday day are what would you do? Not as the victim but as a passerby. I am shocked and sickened by how many people could have saved this young Wife and Mother. I know myself and I stick my nose in where I shouldn’t A LOT and it gets me in to trouble sometimes. If I felt something wasn't right I would have done everything to help this young woman. I can’t say that for the people that witnessed her terror and did nothing. I thought about this all night and even lost sleep over it. Not only did the 911 dispatcher drop the ball but so did so many witnesses.
What are your thoughts on this and what would you do??

TGIF

Holy Moly! I thought Friday would never come... I am so excited to do nothing this weekend. I am having my oldest and dearest friends over tonight for FAJITAS but other than that my weekend is all mine. Hmmm... What ever will I do?? Maybe read or go check out some garage sales. A friend of mine that lives in Hastings invited me out to Riverdays this weekend. Maybe I will go do that. Just trying to enjoy my free time before the baby comes.

Have a great weekend : )

TFT. CRAVINGS!!

OK. My TFT is CRAVINGS! I want to know about all of your cravings that you had while pregnant or when your partner was pregnant. I think it’s interesting what women crave while pregnant. A friend of mine used to crave blueberry juice. There wasn't even such a thing at the time.
I have always been a pretty healthy eater but lately I crave plain potato chips and pizza all the time. It's really all that sounds good right now. Oh and I love pasta and rice, two things that I barely touched before I was pregnant. YUMMY!!
I am not that far along and I really want to try not to get too big. One thing that’s good is I am craving fresh salads and juice. I just started this pregnancy journey so I am sure my cravings will get crazier and I may need to revisit this subject again in the future.

Random

So, today I was chatting with an old friend over email and she sends me an email that says “Do you know anyone that would want to buy an alligator”? I was like, huh! She was like, yeah my boyfriend bought an alligator and now I want to get rid of it. I didn’t even know you could buy alligators and why would you want to? I just thought this was so strange and funny and I wanted to share. Does anyone want to buy an alligator?
So I am feeling good today yippee!! I haven’t felt like throwing my computer at my co-workers or puking in my garbage, bonus! Oh and I officially cancelled my membership to weight watchers today. It was kind of sad because I was down almost 10 pounds but now it’s time for fun baby weight. It’s not just about me anymore.

Not much to say today, I am sure I will have plenty to say in the upcoming weeks.. Stay tuned.

Expecting!

I figured out why I am in a funk, it turns out I’m not in a funk I am pregnant. Yep! They say you should wait until you’re through your 1st trimester to make sure everything is ok before you tell anyone. I thought about waiting but then again it would be nice to have advice from all the Mothers out there. I am also very excited and wanted to share the news. I think I am about 7-8 weeks but I am not sure. I haven’t been to the doctor yet but I’ve taken many home tests to confirm this. I am extremely tired and I have morning sickness really bad. I also have to pee like every hour. They say it’s because my uterus is growing so fast and putting pressure on my bladder. I am not sure but it sucks getting up four times a night.
I am 30 years old and by now most of my friends have kids. I really thought that I wasn’t going to have them. I always wanted to be a Mom but I just didn’t see it becoming a reality. I am terrified. I worry about having a miscarriage and about having a healthy baby. I am sure this is normal for new Moms. I just can’t put my head around all of this. I am thinking I won’t until I start to show.
My family and friends are very excited and Brent is too. He is a first time Dad at the age of 37. He thought that he wasn’t going to have a chance to have kids. I just hope that my morning sickness and exhaustion gets better soon because I can’t see it getting any worse.

My 4th of July

My 4th of July weekend was very busy. Thursday night we got up to the cabin around 6:30-7 and after settling in I sat by the fire with my family. Friday the whole family went to the Moose Lake parade. This has been a tradition in my family for decades. I haven’t been up to my cabin for the 4th in about 7-8 years and I remember the parade being much bigger. I guess things always appear that way when you are younger. After the parade we all walked over to the carnival and ate some lunch. It wasn’t on my diet but I did factor in enough points for the day to have a burger. It was so yummy. After the carnival we all headed back to the cabin to decorate the boat for the 4th of July boat parade. My SIL Lori got all the decorations for the pontoon. She did a great job. Check out my 4 month old nephew in his holiday gear.

Around 1 pm we started the annual dart tournament. There were 26 players with ages ranging from 9-74. It came down to the final three players, which were my cousin Ryan, My Mom’s boyfriend Mike and me. I didn’t win. I got 3rd. I was a little bummed because I wanted my name on the trophy but oh well. Better luck next year.

Saturday I spend most of the day on the lake with all my cousins and my niece. Around 6:30 we had our 4th of July Hot Dog cook out down at my Auntie Sally and Uncle Dick’s cabin. That was ok. So many people not enough places to sit. I retired to the cabin early and watched some TV and fell asleep around 11. Sunday I spent the day on the lake. All in all it was a good weekend. Lots of time with my family and lots of relaxing.
I hope everyone else had a great weekend.

TFT...I'm in a funk

I have nothing really exciting to talk about today for TFT other than I’m in a funk. Does anyone ever feel like that? Maybe it’s because I am 30 and I am questioning every decision I’ve made lately and in the past. I’ve always been a very positive person and tried to live with no regrets only lessons but lately I am finding that very hard. I feel like getting my own little apartment with my dog and just being on my own.
I’m heading up to the cabin in Moose Lake this afternoon. I am excited to spend the 4th with my family. I’ve never really been a family person. I’ve always looked to my friends as my family but as I get older I am really trying to change that. Maybe I will come back on Monday refreshed, relaxed and with a better outlook on things.
I hope you all have a wonderful 4th.
