TFT-Pets

Hold the phone....Kim is posting a TFT.. HOLY...

It has been a long long long time since I've posted a THOUGHTS FOR THURSDAY so I decided I would try to get back in the habit of doing this weekly if not bi-weekly. My TFT it pets.

I have to say that my dog Gizmo was my life prior to my son. He is a Boston Terrier/French Bulldog and he is 3.5 years old. Before I had Jacob I was what you would call obsessed with my dog. He could do NO wrong. I loved cuddling with him and would miss him when I was gone. Even while I was in the hospital recovering from having Jacob all I wanted was to cuddle Gizmo because I knew he would make me feel better.

When I got home from the hospital everything changed. I was no longer obsessed with my dog. In fact I sorta couldn't stand him. A while back I read a post from a fellow blogger Mom about her dog. She was at the end of her rope and thinking of getting rid of her dog. I was shocked that her feelings for her dog had changed since she became a Mom and that she would even think about getting rid of a family member. I am not saying I want to get rid of Giz but I understand now.

Since Jacob has come home from the hospital Gizmo is now the most annoying dog in the world. I will tell you why....

1. He barks at everything that walks by and wakes up Jake (who I spent hours getting down)

2. He is always under my feet causing me to trip daily

3. He eats the bathroom garbage if we don't shut the door before we leave

4. If I leave something out like the baby bag he will have the contents spread out all over by the time I come home

5. When I open the door he bolts for the street almost becoming road kill on one occasion

6. He licks the baby

7. He will not lay down instead he just stares at me.. It's creepy...

So my TFT is did your feelings for your pets change once you had kids or for those of you without kids share a story of your annoying pet.

My Birthday

Last Saturday was my 30 something birthday and I celebrated it with a few great friends, my Mom, Sister and my Niece Jess. We went to dinner at Grumpy's in Roseville and then out for karaoke at the Palace. I had a great time but I missed my baby sooooo much. Thank you to everyone that made it out.

8 Weeks

Today Jacob is 8 weeks. He will be two months old on April 17th. I can't believe how much he has grown in just a short time. He looks so different. Jake and I have been battling each other for the past month or so with sleeping. After blogging with Lindsay and other fellow bloggers I went out and bought a few books in hopes that I could train myself on how to get my son to sleep. I feel like I am slowly figuring him out and his sleep habits. Last night he slept. From 8:30 pm-1:00 pm and then got up to feed and was back down in 15 and then back up at 4:00 am to feed and back down in 15. Then he got up at 7:00 am for the morning, ate then played and was back down at 9:00 am for his morning nap until 11:00 am. He then got up to eat and play for a little while and went back down at 12:00 pm for his afternoon nap. Now he is sleeping. I am not sure how long but I am making a record of his sleep times to get him into more of a routine.

He is eating about 3 ounces still. Just when I think he wants to go up to 4 he won't finish the last 1. He is talking and smiling a lot. I still haven't gotten a laugh out of him but I am working on it. He is an amazing little person and I thank God everyday that he bought him into my life. I can't imagine my life without him.

He is going to kill me when he is older

Mom Guilt!!

Today Jake is 7 weeks.. Yesterday I would say was the first time I felt like a bad MOM.. Jacob cried pretty much all day and wouldn't sleep. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with him and for the first time in 7 weeks I as so frustrated. When B got home I had to get out of the house for a little bit. I went to the store and even though I was only gone for 30 min I felt so much better when I came home. I think Jake is having a lot of tummy issues. I wish he could talk to me and tell me what the problem is. I am at the point where I think I am going to switch to formula just because he seems to always have a tummy ache.. I never understood Mom guilt until now.. I think that the minute he was born Mom guilt set in.

Did anyone catch Oprah yesterday? It was all about Motherhood and after the day I had yesterday that episode couldn't have come at a better time. Wow I am not alone.. Who would have thought.

On a happier note. Jacob is beautiful and I love him to pieces. He is eating between 2 and 3 ounces every to hours. He is smiling and cooing. I still haven't seen him laugh but a few of my family claim that he has. Until I see it it hasn't happened. He loves tummy time and looking out the window. Some pictures...

I'm going to try to be better

I am going to work on taking time to blog and to read blogs. It has been a crazy 6 weeks and I am feeling like I am just now getting the hang of it. Jake is wonderful. He has been very fussy lately but last night we tried a different routine and he slept awesome and woke up so happy. My brother gave me some good advice he said try everything and I have been and last night it paid off. Jake slept from 10 to 1:40 ate and was back to sleep by 2 and then woke up at 5 ate and was back to sleep until 8. I can handle getting up it was him not going back to sleep that killed me. I feel like a new woman.. Lol. Here are some pictures of baby Jake.
