Jake's Eyes

It's been a long time since I've posted anything and I wanted to post all the pictures from the past month but our family is going through a hard time right now. At Jake's 4 month check up his doctor felt his eyes didn't look normal and wanted us to see a pediatric eye doctor. At the eye doctor she told us that Jake was pretty much blind and that he had a rare disorder called PHPV. She said that we should be prepared that our son may never see but she wanted us to see a specialist because she said that she's never seen a case like this. We spent 24 hours in hell wondering why this happened and if our son will ever have a normal life. We cried and cried and everything felt like a blur.

Today we went to the specialist and it turns out that Jake has FEVR and not PHPV . She said that with surgery, lots of therapy and glasses Jake will have sight. She said that his sight may never be very good but she is hopeful.
He is scheduled to have surgery on July 16th for one eye and the 17th for the other eye. He will be in the hospital for two days and we will be right by his side.

I will keep you updated with his progress. Please keep my sweet little boy in your prayers.

BBQ with my old buddies

Tuesday night Jake and I made our way over to my friend Rachel's. Rachel and I have been friends for many many years and have been through a lot together. We don't get to see each other that often because we both have families and are busy but we finally made some much needed time to hang out. This was the first time that Rachel and her family got to meet Jake. Much to my surprise our other friend Laura and her family were there as well. Laura is also a very close friend of mine and her and her partner just had a baby too. He is one week older than Jake. Laura and I also don't get to see each other as ofter as we would like so I was so happy to walk in and see her there.

Visiting with Tony

On Sunday my Mom and I brought Jake up to my Brothers to visit my nephew and of course my bro and SIL. Tony is getting so big. I still can't believe that he and Jake are only 11 months apart. Tony just seems so grown up compared to Jake. Here are some pictures from our visit.

Saturday my Sister and I took Jake for his first visit to the Mall of America along with my niece Jess and her little friend Megan. We were there for 6 hours and Jake was so good. No fussing and took a nap him the new sleep wrap I go last week. Here are some pics from our day.

Lots to blog about

I have a few days to catch up on so there will be a few blogs today.

Last Friday my BFF Mary came over with her family to watch the baby for a few hours so B and I could have a date night. We went out to dinner and then stopped at one of our favorite places for a few drinks.

Us on our date... He hates this picture of him so he will probably get mad that I posted it.. Lol...

B and I woke up in the morning and looked at each other and said

Me- did you wake up with the baby?

B- No Did you?

Me- No

Baby slept through the night. Mary and her kids must have worn him out.. YAY...

Jacob VS the bath

My son hates the bath.. I just want to show you how much.

We've tried every single type of bath but the only way he won't scream is if I am in there with him.. DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA

Jessie's Dance Recital

Saturday night Brent watched the baby and I went to my niece Jessie's dance recital. Jess dances at 4th street dance where I danced growing up. This year they celebrated their 25th year anniversary. I danced there when I was 6 through age 13 so boy did I feel old. The same woman owns the studio and a girl I went to elementary school, middle school and high school with is her teacher. Small world. The recital was in my old middle school. It was like taking a trip down memory lane..

Tracy getting Jess ready

They had 25 years of shirts lined up.. Of course the first 7 were the ones from when I danced.. I actually remember them.
Jess in her costume. You know that this costume was 70 dollars. Can you believe it. There was a girl that I saw in at least 7 dances and she was in a different costume each time. I can't imagine what her parents have to pay for her costumes.

Visit

Lots of posts today.. I am trying to catch up on everything.

On Saturday Aunt Donna came down for a visit. She doesn't get to see Jacob that often because she lives a ways up north. When ever she can she comes down to see Jake. She always brings him something cute. She spoils him.

BBQ

Friday night we went to Mary's for a BBQ. Surprisingly most of us were able to make it on an hours notice.

Boobs,poo and teeth

After much discussion with Brent and lot of thinking I decided to stop breastfeeding. I wanted to do it until he was at least 6 months but we only made it 3 and a 1/2 months. The reason why I decided it was time was because our little man was having constant tummy problems and I couldn't single out what it was I was eating that was hurting him so much. It had gotten to the point where I wasn't eating anything but bland food but he was still in agony. On top of all that I just stop producing enough to make him satisfied. It's been one week and I am still in a lot of pain. I also miss the bonding experience but in the end I needed to do what was best for the baby and for myself.

Now that Jake is on formula only he is so constipated that he goes 3-4 days without going to the bathroom. He is not a happy camper and B and I have such a hard time seeing our little boy in so much pain. The doctor prescribed him some meds to take twice a day and he has been on them for about 5 days and has only went to the bathroom once. We are going to the doctor tomorrow. I hope that they can do something to help our little man. We miss our happy baby.

On a happier note last week our baby sprouted two little tooth buds. WOW!! Talk about early. He is a drooling mess. He has one on the upper left side and one in front. Teething has also made him a tad cranky. So much for my little man to take. We have to pry his little hands out of his mouth cause he just wants to suck on them... I took a couple pictures of his teeth. They are a little blurry but you can see the white speck which is the tooth bud..

I know that it looks like I am torturing him but honestly he loves when I stick my fingers in his mouth. I think it feels good on his sore gums.
