Jake's benefit

Our friends and family are putting together a benefit for Jake. We are looking for donations for the silent auction and gift baskets. If you know of anyone or if you would like to donate please leave me a message. Anything would be greatly appreciated. We are working on finding a venue that would donate the time or that we could get at a discount.

Update on Jake... Tomorrow he has his pre op appointment with his doctor. His surgery is scheduled for Thursday on one eye and it will take as long as the doctor needs to do what she needs to do. The other eye is scheduled for Friday. Jake and I will be at children's hospital in Saint Paul from Thursday to Saturday. After his surgery we are not sure of all the details on recovery or if he will need more surgeries but more than likely he will need more just from reading about it online. We are hoping that he only needs these. After the surgery it is a long process of therapy. I will not be going back to work for some time because now my full time job is helping my sweet pea see. That is our number one priority.

Please keep our baby in your prayers and I will keep you all updated on how the surgery is going as well as the benefit if you would like to attend.

Thank you,

Kim

I really wanted to stop and take some time to post pictures of Jake and pictures of what we've been up to this summer. Even though we have a lot on our plate I want to make sure that I still keep up with our family blog. So decided today to sit down and post pictures from the past month or two. So be aware this is going to be a long picture post that won't all fit in one post. It's also a hodgepodge of pictures. Sorry for the lack of structure.

Jake's Eyes

It's been a long time since I've posted anything and I wanted to post all the pictures from the past month but our family is going through a hard time right now. At Jake's 4 month check up his doctor felt his eyes didn't look normal and wanted us to see a pediatric eye doctor. At the eye doctor she told us that Jake was pretty much blind and that he had a rare disorder called PHPV. She said that we should be prepared that our son may never see but she wanted us to see a specialist because she said that she's never seen a case like this. We spent 24 hours in hell wondering why this happened and if our son will ever have a normal life. We cried and cried and everything felt like a blur.

Today we went to the specialist and it turns out that Jake has FEVR and not PHPV . She said that with surgery, lots of therapy and glasses Jake will have sight. She said that his sight may never be very good but she is hopeful.
He is scheduled to have surgery on July 16th for one eye and the 17th for the other eye. He will be in the hospital for two days and we will be right by his side.

I will keep you updated with his progress. Please keep my sweet little boy in your prayers.

BBQ with my old buddies

Tuesday night Jake and I made our way over to my friend Rachel's. Rachel and I have been friends for many many years and have been through a lot together. We don't get to see each other that often because we both have families and are busy but we finally made some much needed time to hang out. This was the first time that Rachel and her family got to meet Jake. Much to my surprise our other friend Laura and her family were there as well. Laura is also a very close friend of mine and her and her partner just had a baby too. He is one week older than Jake. Laura and I also don't get to see each other as ofter as we would like so I was so happy to walk in and see her there.

Visiting with Tony

On Sunday my Mom and I brought Jake up to my Brothers to visit my nephew and of course my bro and SIL. Tony is getting so big. I still can't believe that he and Jake are only 11 months apart. Tony just seems so grown up compared to Jake. Here are some pictures from our visit.
